NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks), a joint venture between Nokia and Siemens, announced on September 26 that it has won a network expansion contract worth two billion RMB (US$266.4 million; US$1= 7.5 RMB) from China Mobile's subsidiary Henan Mobile, Chinese-language Sina News reported. Pursuant to the contract, NSN will supply GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) and EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) core and radio network equipment, mobile soft switching system, and system integration for Henan Mobile's network expansion project, which is expected to enable an additional network capacity of over 19.3 million users.
